Cohens Tour-Management veröffentlich folgende PRESSE-Mitteilung mit dem Inhalt, daß Mr. Cohen wegen eines Bandscheibenvorfalles die für März 2010 angekündigten Frühjahrs-Tourdaten auf Sommer/ Herbst 2010 verschieben muß:
(Press Release – February, 05, 2010) – AEG Worldwide today announced that a run of performances by Leonard Cohen have been rescheduled to allow proper time for a sports-related injury sustained by the artist to heal. While exercising recently, Mr. Cohen suffered a compression injury in his lower back. He has been advised by physicians to follow the typical four to six month regime of physical therapy prescribed for athletes with similar injuries. “Doctors have confirmed that Mr. Cohen is otherwise in terrific shape, thanks to years of exercise and careful diet, and simply needs appropriate time to recover from the lower back injury,” stated Cohen’s manager, Robert Kory. The rescheduled dates below will be amended shortly to reflect all thirteen rescheduled dates (see the list below). Since his return to the stage in May 2008, Mr. Cohen has played 191 sold out shows around the world, headlined the 2009 Coachella Music Festival and was hailed by Spin Magazine as the “Comeback of the Year” for 2009. On January 30th, Mr Cohen received the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Special Merit Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS) and was honored the following night on the Grammy Awards broadcast.

Leonard Cohen wurde 1934 in Montreal geboren. Sein Talent offenbarte sich schon früh in seiner Lyrik. Zunächst arbeitete Cohen als Schriftsteller (Let Us Compare Mythologies, Flowers For Hitler), bevor er sich 1967 entschied, seine Texte mit Musik zu unterlegen und zu veröffentlichen. Mit intensiven, melancholischen und sparsam instrumentierten Liedern begeistert er seither sein Publikum.
43 Jahre nach seiner ersten Album-Veröffentlichung kommt Leonard Cohen nun ein weiteres Mal auf Welttournee - mit einer Lebensfreude, Intensität und Energie, als ob er gerade erst angefangen hätte. Besonders live entwickelt Leonard Cohen einen Zauber, dem sich wohl kein Zuhörer, egal welchen Alters, entziehen kann.

1. Einleitung
Bei der kleinen Promotion-Tour für sein "Old Ideas" - Album im Januar 2012 flachste er noch über eine neue Tournee, dass er noch eine Haaresbreite davon entfernt sei. "Es gäbe noch eine Details abzuklären" mirakelte er.
Dann wurden die Gerüchte um eine Tournee größer: "Eine Tour wurde gebucht, aber ich habe bisher noch nichts unterschrieben - ich bin da etwas zwiegespalten. Ich mag keine zu kleinen Tourneen, aber ob ich mich gleich wieder für ein paar Jahre verpflichten möchte ... Ist das wirklich das, wo ich landen möchte? Auf Tour zu gehen ist ein wenig, als würde man den ersten Schritt eines Fußmarsches nach China machen..." fügte er den Mutmassungen hinzu.
Am 26. März 2012 wurden erste Tourtermine für Europa bekanntgegeben, Termine in den USA werden noch folgen. In Deutschland spielt Cohen im Rahmen seiner "Old Ideas World Tour 2012" zwei Konzerte im September.
"Old Ideas" erreichte übrigens weltweit die höchsten Chartränge, darunter wiederholte Male die Nummer eins. Damit ist das zwölfte Studioalbum der bisher erfolgreichste Longplayer in der Karriere des Künstlers. Leonard Cohen wird am 5. September auf der Berliner Waldbühne sowie am 6. September im Warsteiner Hockeypark in Mönchengladbach zu sehen sein.
